Focus on Testing Elevators
Worked for three different component/special products suppliers to the elevator industry over a period of 35+ years -- learned a lot about elevators, business in general and people. Maintaining friends and many connections in the industry made it an easier decision to retire from the benefits of working for a private employer and look for what lies ahead in the next phase of work and enjoying life.
Project work for Elevator Technical & Training Associates (ETTA) could include internal and branch operation training; special research on a specific challenge or problem or even taking over leadership/facilitation of CAT5 testing for a small portfolio of traction elevators.
Experience includes manager positions for manufacturing companies -- had formal roles covering sales, marketing, distribution, operations and quality management, general manager, vice president and president. Special knowledge/skill areas include extensive recent involvement in elevator testing (field and installation sites), especially CAT5 (five-year safety testing); elevator suspension means (steel wire rope focus and some belt designs) along with governor and compensation; elevator construction and installation tools; and elevator traveling cables (all currently available designs) and related electrical wiring and components.
Along the way I became an active volunteer with NAESA International which lead to joining ASME A17 Elevator Safety code committees a technical and challenging endeavor. Now maintaining QEI (Certified Elevator Inspector status QEI Certificate C-6667), a member of the Board of Certification for the National Association of Elevator Safety Authorities (NAESA), officer for the Central Region -- continuing to help with continuing education and certification. I have written (and edited for others) technical and continuing education articles for the elevator industry trade publication - Elevator World.
* Maintaining and Gaining
Offering technical support with electronic CAT5 testing of traction elevators - a method that came to the Elevator Safety Standard (A17.1/B44) in 2013. Since 2013 this concept (and equipment available for it) is being adopted and acceptance for it is growing around North America. Whether you need counsel on changing to or adopting this method of testing traction elevators/documenting Code-compliant safe operation; training for your staff on the proper use of equipment you purchased; or someone to come in with the equipment and complete the electronic CAT5 testing process with your staff. Capable and Ready. To do all this and more...
